Meißen is easily accessible from all directions. It is only 25 km away from Dresden and 80 km away from Leipzig and can easily be reached by highway or major roads.
Meißen is directly situated near the Elbe cycle path, i.e. one of the most famous and longest cycle paths in Germany. Additionally, the Saxon City route runs through Meißen. It connects the Saxon cities of Görlitz, Löbau, Bautzen, Kamenz, Dresden, Meißen, Freiberg, Chemnitz and Glauchau.
Thanks to the direct connection to Dresden with the nationwide Intercity-network, traveling to Meißen with the Deutsche Bundesbahn is fast and convenient. Every 30 minutes a suburban train leaves from Dresden to Meißen. Timetable information is available under Deutsche Bahn AG. Central stop for suburban services is the terminal bus station Meißen situated directly beside the Meißen main station. Timetable information about the bus routes is available under www.vg-meissen.de.
There are flights several times a day to many major cities in Germany, to and from Dresden airport. If you come from Dresden airport, take the S 80 (about 40 minutes) or take the suburban train.
