Already built by the Wettin family at the end of the 15th century, the Albrechtsburg Castle Meißen has always been considered to be an architectural masterpiece of its time. In 1710, it was August the Strong who gave the order to build the first European porcelain manufacture and for 150 years the “white gold” was produced in the late Gothic castle rooms. Looking at the historical murals of the 19th century, you witness a genuine “picture-book” of Saxon history presented in cellular vaults. Experience this unique cultural place in the permanent exhibition called “Albrechtsburg Castle Meißen. It is exceptional! Architecture, power and porcelain in Germany’s oldest castle.”
